City of Santa Monica

A challenge to the city's at-large voting system under the California Voting Rights Act, resulting in a landmark California Supreme Court ruling. More

Ginger Grimes’ work made the switch to fully districted elections for AC Transit possible, so that all parts of the East Bay have equal representation on our local bus agency. With the help of the firm, I had the information and support to make this change happen. Since the redistricting, the board now closely reflects the East Bay’s ethnic diversity. The successful effort also inspired organizing that led to other cities, school districts, and special districts in the county to also make the change to district based elections in the following two years.
