James Kan has been elected as a Class of 2026 Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is a non-profit professional association whose mission is to honor and recognize leaders in the practice of Labor and Employment Law across the country. The College elects a small number of new Fellows each year to join this international membership association of over one thousand Labor and Employment lawyers who have been practicing for over 20 years. Fellows in The College impart their experience and expertise to audiences in academia, government, and the judiciary. James joins DHKL attorneys Laura Ho and David Borgen on the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.
James Kan has represented workers demanding fair compensation and working conditions free from discrimination since joining DHKL in 2005 as the inaugural Social Justice Fellow and becoming Partner in 2014. In 2025, he successfully litigated a sex discrimination class action on behalf of women who worked for Disney resulting in a $43.25 million settlement and served as co-lead trial counsel in a California PAGA representative action on behalf of thousands of Oracle employees paid commission wages, resulting in a $15.5 million settlement.
The Class of 2026 will be formally inducted at an annual dinner on November 7th at Washington D.C.’s Union Station.
