The firm, along with co-counsel, The Law Offices of Andrew Kopel, represents a class of former Asian Games Referees who were employed at Lucky Chances Casino in Colma, California. Plaintiffs Benjamin Lopez and Susana Rinoza represent the class in Lopez v. Lucky Chances, Inc., which was filed in San Mateo Superior Court on August 3, 2009, and certified as a class action on September 23, 2011. The lawsuit alleges that Lucky Chances and its owners violated California law by requiring Referees to share the tips they received from customers with both Lucky Chances and other Lucky Chances employees. The lawsuit also alleges that Lucky Chances wrongfully terminated all Asian Games Referees in retaliation for the filing of this lawsuit and failed to reimburse Asian Games Referees for cardroom work permit badges that they were required to wear for work.
