On May 29, 2025, the San Mateo County Superior Court approved a $15.5 million settlement of a Private Attorneys General Act case against Oracle America, Inc. for sales employees based in California.
The case was initially filed in 2015. Plaintiffs alleged that Oracle had violated multiple provisions of the California Labor Code, including those involving the regulation of written commission agreements, the timeliness of earned wages, and restrictions on mandatory confidentiality agreements. DHKL and co-counsel won summary judgment, before the first phase of trial in 2019, after which the Court ruled in Plaintiffs’ favor on numerous claims. A second phase of trial was held later that same year, and the Court again ruled in Plaintiffs’ favor on some claims. DHKL and co-counsel defeated subsequent summary judgment motions, before a third phase of trial was scheduled. The settlement was reached thereafter.
